Return to Balance

Maker: Sheaffer.

The Defender is the military clip equivalent of the Admiral; standard width and length body with a Feathertouch point.  Also like the Admiral of the same age, it has neither white dot nor a clip impression, which means the only markings visible when the cap is on is the subtle barrel impression; from a marketing standpoint, this is a stealth pen.

Production Run: 1940 – c. 1942 (I have a suspicion without supporting data that it would have been kept on until the end of the war).

Cost When New: $5.00 (for modern value, try this calculator).

Size: 13.0 cm long capped, 15.0 cm posted, 11.6 cm uncapped.

Point: 14k gold with platinum mask.

FillerLever, capacity approx. 1.1ml, or vacuum filler, capacity approx. 1.9 ml.
