I know very little about Quill. They were established in 1945 in Providence, Rhode Island; this instantly inclined me towards them as it is the home of one of my favourite authors. I understand that their production included some reasonably well-made and high-end pens right up until the 1980s, but in later years the fell into making promotional pens of various sorts. I put this in the past tense, since they were gobbled up by Newell-Rubbermaid sometime after 2008, and can’t really be said to have a separate existence; going to their website as of this 2011 writing lands one on a “Business to Business” wing of N-R’s pen-making interests.
