Return to Quill

700

Maker: Quill.

This was, at the time of its making, the middle of Quill’s line-up.  It is, to all appearances, a putting together of parts from other suppliers, but it’s not a bad example of that sort of exercise.  The point is springy and nice to write with (possibly from the same factory as that in the Conklin Signature), the flow is good, and it is well-balanced enough to make up for the abominably heavy weight.

Production Run: c. 2000 – c. 2009

Cost When New: This is hard to say; it appears to have only ever been a promotional item, so one might call it either “worthless” or “priceless”, depending how it arrived in one’s hands.

Size: 14.4 cm long capped, 16.1 cm posted, 13.1 cm uncapped.

Point: Plated steel.

Body: Painted brass.

Filler: Cartridge, capacity approx. 0.6 or 1.4 ml (international pattern).

Quill 700, in the livery of the local casino; an erstwhile co-worker won this thing, and combining his lack of interest in fountain pens and his knowledge of my proclivities, he saw it to a good home.
