Wearever made cheap pens. There's no way around it. Part of
their charm for me is their cheapness. This thing, if it is
indeed a Supreme (I'm not totally confident in the identification, and
Wearever seemed not to care too much), would have cost about 29¢
brand new, and at any time during the model run for the Supreme-- 1950
to 1962-- that was not a lot of money. So, what's the
charm? It still works. Let's see a 29¢ ballpoint say that on its fortieth birthday! The fact that this one looks a lot like the classic Jack Kirby hero The Guardian doesn't hurt either.
Specifications: Fine point. Lever filler.
Condition: Better than one should expect. The body is
slightly matte from decades of rolling around in pockets and drawers,
and the cap shows a little bit of corrosion in places, but there's no
serious dents or scratches. It's one of the best performing
Wearevers I've got, as it's not given to dryness like so many of that
clan.
Repairs: Sac replaced with one from a donor pen of similar age--
not black rubber but a strange dove grey stuff. It's serving well
enough, and eventually I'll put a new silicon sac in.
Location: My collection.
For sale?: Man, it looks like The Guardian. That's too cool. I'm keeping it.
