Waterman 55

Black (now brownish) hard rubber pen with silver furniture.

There's not a lot to say about this pen that isn't said under the heading of the 52.  The main difference between this pen and the other is the size of the point, and thus the size of the whole pen; the 55 is less common, and thus not so frequently spoken of.  It may not look much different from the 52, but it's a monster-- I can only imagine what kind of titan the 58 must be.

Specifications: Fine 14K "Manifold" point (which means very firm indeed-- it was designed to go through carbons).  Lever filler.  14.0 cm long capped, 17.6 cm posted.

Condition:  Body impressions very shallow, and there's the bare beginning of oxidation of the rubber-- it's very dark brown rather than black, but quite shiny.  All the trim is in excellent shape, but the clip has been lost.

Repairs: Rather than replace the sac (which was the expected need, but which was clearly newer and blameless), I remounted the pressure bar which has dropped off it's hanger on the end of the lever.  There was some tarnish on the band which polished away nicely.

Location:  Miami, Florida.
