Vacuum fillers are somewhat
hair-raising to clean, because once they're full of fluid they're a
hazard to themselves, as mentioned elsewhere.
One can gently draw the piston, giving the water time to pass around
it, and then it's easy to drive the water out on a
downstroke-- I usually pull up anout five millimeters, push out to
expel, and then repeat a couple of times to clear some space in the ink
chamber before pulling the piston all the way. It is
also possible to flick the pen empty as described in the latter part of
the Vacumatic
cleaning instructions. Best to do this over a
sink, or even in the bath-tub-- you don't want ink on your wall-paper.
