Parker Vacumatic

Pen of black and green pearlescent stripes, with gold fittings

This is not much different from my other Vacumatic models apart from being a green model, and being a Canadian-made object.  The Vacumatic was made in Canada well after it was phased out in the US, which I suppose says something about our national character in the mid-20th century.  Given how flashy Vacumatics are, I'm hesitant to use the words "inherent conservatism" in connection with it, though.  This example is a 1949 model by the barrel impression; I got it in a box of ten which will slowly enter the "For Sale" page, and there appears to have been some promiscuity in points, with US and Canadian points mingling, and date codes not matching barrels at all.

I'm keeping this one for myself because of the state of the body-- it's about the clearest Vacumatic I've personally handled.

Specifications:  Fine gold point.  Vacumatic filler.  12.9cm long capped, 15.1cm posted.

Condition: Someone was looking after this pen.  The body, including the furniture, has the finest of hazing from pocket-wear, and there's not a thing wrong with it otherwise, and the link above shows the near-mint clarity.  The diamond on the clip lacks blue paint, but after 1947 Parker was phasing out the mark in any event (because they weren't allowed to claim lifetime warranties in the
US any longer) so it may well never have had the paint to start with.

Repairs:   Diaphragm replaced, barrel and feed cleaned in the process.

Location:  My collection.

For sale?:  No, but I'll presently have one or two like it cleaned up and ready for sale.
