Parker Frontier

Translucent blue pen with steel point and cap

This is something of an anomaly in Parker's low-end, with its large traditional point-- the rest all have a lower profile semi-tubular point, as in the IM.  It actually reminds me very much of Sheaffer's old school pens-- even the shape of the feed is reminiscent of them-- although the finish is of somewhat higher quality.  This example is actually a pretty pedestrian one, as the line has some gold-trimmed versions.

In the hand, it is nothing to write home about, although it is entirely unobjectionable.  There are some people in the world who find a rubberized section unpleasant, and to them I would suggest avoiding this pen.  If one is on the lookout for a Parker with generally traditional styling and without a vast price tag, this is your kid.

Specifications: Medium steel point.  Cartridge filler (will accept the nasty modern slide-converter, but no older types).  13.2 cm long capped, 14.8 cm posted.

Condition: Very slightly scuffed from use-- it shows up well on the cap in the picture.

Repairs: The body had gone through the wringer, scuff-wise, so I gave it a polish by way of practice, and it buffed up quite nicely.

Location: My collection.
