I'm not going to promiscuously
repeat myself as I did for the first Vacumatic-filled
"51" I got my hands on, as you can certainly read that page as
well. This is simultaneously a better and worse example of the
form. It's better in that the colour is nicer and more uniform
than that previous number's, and the clip carries a blue diamond as it
ought. It's worse in that there's a dirty great scratch on the
hood and the cap has suffered from both an ill-considered
personalization and an untalented effort to remove it.
The body impression is actually legible on this one, revealing it to be
a US made version, the body made in the last quarter of 1944, although
the point is a 1949 product.
Specifications:
Fine gold point. Vacumatic filler. 13.7cm long
capped, 15.2cm capped.
Condition: Apart from the scratch on the hood, the body is in
very good shape. The cap, in addition to the intentional damage
noted above, has a sort of equatorial mark from the clip spinning about
at some point in the past. The blue diamond has entirely shed its
blue
Repairs: Replaced diaphragm; this sounds bland, but
the filler was very firmly stuck in the barrel.
Location: My collection.
For sale?: No.
