Parker 15

Steel-bodied pen with gold trim.

This is clearly not the early black hard rubber pen known as the Parker 15.  This is a fairly recent object, and one of the least costly of Parker's line, so there's not a lot of  reference material about for it.  Apparently roughly interchangible with Parker's Jotter, it is a much better pen than the poor Reflex at what one takes for very slightly more money (this one is second hand, so I don't know the relative costs as new).

This is an example of "Flighter" trim, first produced in a "51" and predicated on the desire of the then-CEO of Parker to make pens which would take air travel and look somewhat like his personal aircraft-- Richard Binder's valuable site has a very clear explanation of the style.  While the interior parts of this pen are no different than any other 15 of the same age, the brushed steel and gold trim allow it the exalted title.

In writing, this is a rather sweeter pen than the ill-starred Reflex, for all that the points appear to be very similar.

Specifications: Medium gold-plated steel point. Cartridge filler.  12.1cm long capped, 13.8cm posted.

Condition: Some amount of scuffing on the body, particularly at the base where the the posting of the cap has marked the body.  The clip is spotted with corrosion (this pen lived in England and its moist air).  No dents, happily.

Repairs: None.

Location:  My collection.

For sale?:  It's an indistinguished little pen, and not in particularly good shape.  I'd suggest finding a new Esprit or Vector if you want a Parker of similar value.
