This is an earlier pattern of the 65... but at this point, I'm not exactly sure how early. I'm content to believe that the model didn't develop until the post-war period, and the latter pattern appeared in the early 1960's to replace it, but I've got no real data. If you can offer some, I'll be happy to see it (contact information here).
Like the later models, this one has a screw-in point unit with allows
swapping with Esterbrooks. The picture above is a result of me
being lazy, all Osmiroid points being distant, and an Estie being right
at hand. I can say of this pen that it is very well-traveled--
made in England, it made its way to Australia where I got it via
on-line shopping. I wonder if it ever lived in a non-Commonwealth
country?
Specifications: Interchangable point-- arrived with a gold-plated steel B2 italic. Lever filler. 13.3cm long capped, 13.9cm to the face of the section posted (because the end-to-point length can vary depending on the point).
Condition:
Teeth imprints on base, which are very hard to see against the
patterning. The cap is shrunk (curse Australia's relentless heat!),
which keeps it from screwing all the way down, and has caused it to
actually lose contact with the band. The band, apart from being
loose, is somewhat tarnished. The imprint is still crisp.
Repairs:
Sac replaced, and body polished (which helps with the tooth-mark problem, at least visually)
Location: My collection.
For sale?:
Apart from the shaky condition, I find it very festive-- if
you're crazy enough, you can probably bid me out of it, but I'd feel
bad taking that much money from a lunatic.
